e2 Young Engineers North York

Preschool to High School

Young Engineers is an innovative STEM education solution that offers a wide range of programs.

Children start with an introduction to mechanical and physical principles, and advance into coding and robotics. The programs offered by Young Engineers teach children how to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation; while utilizing problem-solving, organizational skills, and teamwork, to accomplish the goals of the lesson.

Course & Structure

Big Builders - Preschool to Grade 1

Young Engineers believes in education through play. Our Big Builders unique enrichment program introduces pre-school aged children to scientific concepts through hands-on experiential learning. We hope that establishing this connection between knowledge and fun at such a young age will set our participants up for a lifetime of learning and creating. Our Big Builders will construct 3D models using flexible parts.

Students will receive kits complete with building tools and parts exclusively made by Young Engineers for our Big Builders program. These activities will gradually challenge participants, in order to advance their fine and gross motor skills. This enrichment program will expose our builders to engineering terminology.

In addition, students will be familiarized with simple concepts such as the animal kingdom, scientific principles and their everyday surroundings. Through their play with co-builders, our young scholars will advance their interpersonal communication and will gain confidence about his/her own ability to discover and invent.

Bricks Challenge - Grade 1 to 5

Our lesson begins with an exciting story that opens our students minds to the exciting world of STEM. Our students are engaged, and it allows them to use their imagination and critical thinking skills. One of the goals of our trained instructors is to inspire our youth to want to become an important part of society. Using LEGO® building blocks in conjunction with other tools and mechanical parts, our students develop their building skills.

The lessons start with a brief demonstration that is immediately followed by building Young Engineers LEGO® parts models. Bricks Challenge participants use our LEGO® bricks kits exclusively made by Young Engineers. Each lesson inspires students to create, build and learn through a fun and entertaining LEGO® Challenge experience.

Galileo Technique - Grade 4 to 8

Students that are participating in Young Engineers’ Galileo Technic program will learn how to problem solve from an engineering perspective, using their new math and physics skills. Students work in groups to enhance their team building skills, and therefore they are required to construct complex models.

Galileo Technic provides an advanced level of thematic study, by implementing mechanical engineering principles through building LEGO® bricks models. Students will build an efficient machine (model) as they have analyzed all aspects of how the machine operates e.g. the gear ratios. Students will graduate the Galileo Technic program with new skills in Science, Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Math (STEM).

Robo Bricks - Grade 4 to 6

Robo Bricks enrichment program teaches software engineering, technology, entrepreneurship and math (STEM). During each lesson, students build a robot that moves using coding. Once they finish building the robots the students are given the opportunity to develop and create computer algorithms and learn how to implement codes. Most computer programs and software are in English.

We teach our students to use the correct English terms, aiding them in the development of their technical language for the field. Robo Bricks students design a software and mechanical engineering project. Students present their project to potential investors (a panel of judges) and are then critiqued. This program introduces the participants to many important professional skills that they will later be able to employ in their future careers.

Robotics - Grade 6+

The Robotic and Software Engineering (R&SE) course explores the world of robotics from a professional engineering perspective. By emphasizing programming solutions, our students create more sophisticated robots. This encourages the comprehensive learning of science, technology, mechanical and software engineering, and math (STEM).

Robotics provides a real-life simulation of the complex engineering challenges that exist in the industry. The R&SE enrichment program encourages the students to use their critical thinking and teamwork skills. While the students build robots together, they create something amazing.

The program is based on the engineering principles taught at university. The students complete the program and are ready for the industrial world. Participants solve the challenging engineering principles through the use of LEGO® EV3 programming software. This program allows them to create and enter codes that move their robot.
